Short answer: The official 2027 Napa Valley Marathon is Sunday, March 7, 2027. The marathon starts at 7:30 AM at Silverado Trail and Brannan Street in Calistoga; the half marathon starts at 7:00 AM at Silverado Trail and Conn Creek; and the 5K starts at 7:15 AM at Vintage High School. All three races finish at Vintage High School in Napa. This guide was reviewed July 10, 2026.

2027 race facts

According to the official race-information page, the marathon and half marathon run along Silverado Trail. The official site identifies the marathon as a USATF-certified Boston Qualifier with a net elevation drop of 303 feet. The full marathon has a strict six-hour cutoff (13:44 per mile); runners must reach mile 22.7 by 12:45 PM or board the sweep shuttle.

The official registration page lists 2027 registration as open. Review the organizer's current policies before registering; the site lists a January 25, 2027 deferral deadline for marathon and half-marathon entries, subject to the event's stated terms.

Course planning: use the official maps

For the exact route, road closures, spectator guidance and aid-station information, use the organizer's race-information page and linked course maps. Do not plan race day around an old course map or a prior year's blog post.

The useful high-level planning point is geographic: the marathon moves from Calistoga toward Napa on Silverado Trail, while the half joins from the Conn Creek area. Choose a hotel location with that one-way race morning in mind. Our local guides to Calistoga and downtown Napa can help frame the two ends of the route.

Shuttles, parking and drop-off

The organizer states that a bus ride to each runner's start is included with registration and that buses are for runners only. There is no parking at the marathon or half-marathon start line, and the official site cautions that Uber and Lyft are not reliable race-morning alternatives in this rural area. Marathon and half-marathon runners are strongly encouraged to use the complimentary runner shuttles.

The 5K is different: it starts and finishes at Vintage High School, has no race-morning transportation, and the organizer recommends parking at the school.

For runner drop-off, the official race page lists a marathon drop-off near Lincoln Avenue and Silverado Trail, approached from Highway 29 via Lincoln Avenue. The half-marathon drop-off is at Silverado Trail and Highway 128, approached from Highway 29 via Rutherford Road/Highway 128. Use the official transportation and parking page for the latest instructions.

Important 2027 transportation caveat

As of July 10, 2026, the organizer's transportation page still links a 2026 transportation packet and 2026 shuttle-selection deadline. Treat that packet as an example of the process—not as the 2027 shuttle schedule. Confirm the final 2027 packet, pickup locations, departure times and any required shuttle selection through the official event site closer to race weekend.

Where to stay for race weekend

For a marathon start in Calistoga, an early-night plan and a confirmed shuttle arrangement matter more than a generic list of hotels. For finish-line convenience, focus on Napa and the official transport options. For a broader trip, use our Napa Valley hotel planning guide and browse Calistoga homes or Napa homes if you are exploring the valley beyond race weekend.
